Estoria and Kavalia signed an agreement on Saturday to restore a passenger and cargo ferry across the Strait of Lumen, reconnecting island towns that have had no direct sea link for 12 years.

The service will run between Port Alder in Estoria and Velka on Kavalia's northern coast, three times a week at first. The crossing will take about five hours, compared with two days by road and air through a third country today.
