Off-spinner Yusuf Patel took a hat-trick in the 17th over to send Harbour Hawks into the City Premier T20 final with a 19-run win over Desert Falcons on Thursday.

Defending 160, Hawks had struggled to break a fifth-wicket partnership. Falcons were 133/4 with 23 needed from 24 balls when Hawks captain Dev Malhotra turned to Patel for one more over.

Patel's first ball turned sharply to have the set batter stumped. The next was edged to slip. The third, a quicker ball, hit the stumps of the new batter as he played across the line. Falcons lost their last six wickets for eight runs.

"I was not even supposed to bowl that over," Patel said. "Dev looked at me and said, 'Just one more.' I'm glad I did not argue."

Patel finished with 4 for 18 from four overs, the best figures of the season. It was the tournament's first hat-trick in three years.

Falcons coach Raghav Sinha said his batters had panicked. "At 133/4, we only needed singles. Instead we tried to finish it in one over," he said. Hawks will face the winner of the Lions-Kings semi-final.
